"Killing me softly with his song" es una canción
compuesta en el año 1971 por Charles Fox con letra de Norman Gimbel. Está inspirada en el poema "Killing Me Softly with His
Blues" que Lori Lieberman escribió después de oír interpretar la canción
"Empty Chairs" al entonces desconocido Don McLean (quien luego se
haría famoso con su éxito "American Pie").
La primera versión de este tema fue la que cantó la propia
Lori Lieberman, en el mismo año en que fue compuesta. Ella tenía entonces 20
años.
Lori Lieberman en Julio de 2009, cantando la canción que
había estrenado 38 años antes.
En 1973, Roberta Flack grababa su versión, que sería un gran
éxito internacional, y que la haría ganar tres Grammy.
